FRANCE – After over three years of severed diplomatic ties with France, the Rwandan Embassy in Paris was officially reopened yesterday.

Rwanda’s First Counsellor at the embassy, Olivier Kayumba, sent a Note Verbale to the French State Protocol stating that the Embassy has officially open and that the Embassy of Burundi in Paris will no longer represent Rwanda’s interests in France.

In November 2006 the Cabinet had decided to severe diplomatic ties with France when a French Judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere issued arrest warrants against nine Rwandan officials

However, diplomatic relationships were restored when the French Embassy reopened in Kigali in December last year.
