URUGWIRO VILLAGE – President Paul Kagame, yesterday, received Sam Hamdan, the Chairman of the Global Leadership Team (GLT) at Urugwiro Village.

Hamdan had come to deliver the Most Innovative People Award given to the President for inspiring the country’s transformation.

“We are honoured to be here today. We have come to Rwanda to honour President Kagame with the Most Innovative People Award for his actions over the past few years in transforming Rwanda into one of the top business reformers in the world,” he said.

“These reforms over the years have been well acknowledged by many institutions worldwide,” Hamdan said.

Hamdan said that the Detroit-based organisation which is an innovations holding company and works with global institutions like the World Bank and the Organisation of Economic Cooperation ad Development (OECD) also honoured President Kagame with another award.

“We have also awarded the President with the Innovation for Peace Award because of his relentless drive to focus his policies on the citizens of Rwanda, and his ability to lobby the international private sectors and other partners to help transform Rwanda into a knowledge-based economy,” Hamdan said.

He added that the awards are in recognition of President Kagame’s courage and foresight and his connected leadership which puts the citizens at the centre of his policies and his ability to execute and get things done.

Kagame joins the ranks of other global leaders, among them Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bill Gates, the President of Finland Halja Taronen, Prof. Steven Hawking who have won these awards.
